Assistant Professor Physical Therapy

At DMU you will make a meaningful contribution to the dynamic future of Medicine and Health Sciences. DMU is seeking a faculty member who will be responsible for conducting lectures and labs for students of the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program. Acute care experience preferred.

What you’ll do:

  • Coordinate one or more courses for the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program and assume responsibility for the development and updates of the course syllabus/syllabi.
  • Teach in one or more courses within the physical therapy curriculum.
  • If expertise in a given instructional area is sought by other university departments, teaching opportunities will be coordinated between the faculty member and Department of Physical Therapy Chair.
  • Prepare and deliver lectures and labs to physical therapy students. Develop course materials for assigned areas of teaching. Stimulate class discussions. Develop, administer, and grade/review examinations.
  • Utilize technology-based applications to facilitate teaching and assigned curricular content delivery.

What we’re looking for:

  • Ph.D. or equivalent academic doctoral degree required.; individuals enrolled or committed to enrolling in an academic doctoral program will be considered.
  • At least five years of physical therapy clinical experience required. 
  • Previous faculty experience within a physical therapy academic program is preferred.
  • Eligibility for physical therapy licensure in the State of Iowa required.
  • Acute care experience preferred.
  • Must possess or be eligible for licensure as a physical therapist in Iowa and maintain an active physical therapy license in Iowa.
