Clerkship Coordinator (.8 FTE)

At DMU you will make a meaningful contribution to the dynamic future of Medicine and Health Sciences. DMU is seeking a Clerkship Coordinator (.8) position within the Physician Assistant (PA) program who will be responsible for maintaining official university records related to PA program clinical affairs, including clinical site and student documentation (35%); assisting in acquiring Supervised Clinical Preceptor Experiences (SCPE) availability (25%); scheduling students for SCPEs (20%); managing program data (15%); and providing administrative support (5%).

What you’ll do:

  • Manage clinical rotation scheduling through proficient use of the clinical management system.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders, including clinical sites, preceptors, and professional organizations.
  • Assist the clinical team in ensuring students are meeting curricular and graduation requirements as outlined in the student handbook.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to ensure effective communication with students throughout the clinical year.
  • Verify active status of affiliation agreements prior to Supervised Clinical Practice Experiences (SCPEs).
  • Oversees payments for PA clinical sites, including receiving invoices and coordinating with the accounting department for processing, and maintenance of payment records.
  • Serve as a resource for students navigating clinical experiences, providing guidance, support, and mentorship as they progress through the curriculum.
  • Assist with PA commencement, white coat ceremony, and other special activities as directed. 

What we are looking for:

  • Associate's degree required, Bachelor's preferred.
  • Minimum of two years related experience required.
  • Experience in complex scheduling, professional report development, and data management.
  • Must effectively and efficiently communicate and convey information in a manner suitable for the intended audience; emphasis on written and verbal communication skills including professional email and telecommunications skills.

Annual Security Report

In accordance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, Des Moines University publishes an annual security report and makes it available to all current and prospective students and employees. The report contains a description of DMU’s safety and security-related policy statements and procedures and includes statistics of crimes reported over the past three years to DMU officials about incidents occurring on campus locations or nearby public property. The report also includes information about ways to stay safe and report security-related incidents.
